Why a wedding wishlist

At a wedding people usually give money or things for the home. A list helps guests who want to give a thing but do not know what is needed, and prevents ten identical sets of towels.

What to add

  • Things for the home: dishes, textiles, appliances.
  • Experiences: a travel voucher, a spa or a dinner.
  • Shared savings, for example for a honeymoon (as a separate item).
  • Small things from UAH 200 for guests with a limited budget.

How to tell the guests

  1. Add a link to the list in the invitation or in the guests’ chat.
  2. Write a few warm words: “Your gifts are a lovely sign of attention, and this list is only a hint”.
  3. Remind guests that gifts can be reserved so nobody buys the same thing.

What about money

In Ukraine giving money at a wedding is customary. If you want it, say so openly and tactfully: put a separate line in the list or in the invitation with the purpose, for example “for a trip” or “for setting up the home”. It lowers the awkwardness for guests and for you.

How not to look mercenary

  • Present the list as a hint, not a demand.
  • Do not add very expensive things without cheaper choices.
  • Thank the guests in the invitation and after the wedding.

It is easier together: create a Couple group, fill the list together, and guests will reserve the gifts. How it works.

Answers about the list for two

Frequently asked questions

What is the Couple mode?

It is a shared list for two people who fill it together for their celebrations. The gifts are chosen and reserved by guests who get the link.

What events is it for?

A wedding, an anniversary, a milestone birthday, a housewarming, the birth of a child and any celebration you mark together.

Do partners give gifts to each other through it?

No, this mode is for gifts from guests. Gifts for each other are better hinted at in personal lists, where the reservation marks can be hidden to keep the surprise.

Who reserves gifts from the shared list?

The guests you sent the link to: friends, relatives, colleagues. Neither of you reserves in your shared lists, but you see that a wish is already reserved.

Do we see who reserved a gift?

No. You see only that a wish is reserved; who did it stays a secret.

How many people can be in a couple and how many lists?

A couple has two people, and a third one is let in neither by a link nor by an invitation. As many lists as you need, and each is automatically shared by both: a separate one for a wedding, a housewarming or a baby.
